Brian and the Bob Cullen Racing team checked into the Spoon River Speedway Thursday night for $5,000 to win UMP Summer Nationals racing in their new Rocket XR1 Chassis. Brian would win his heat race and would start the A-Main from the pole position. Brian slowed on lap 30 bringing out the caution and would be scored in the 16th finishing position.
Friday night the team headed to the Tri-City Speedway for the $10,000 to win UMP Summer Nationals Event. Brian qualified 3rd overall in the 2nd Group at a 15.122 not far off Shannon Babb’s fast time of 15.033. Brian would duel for the lead in the third heat with Shannon Babb but would fall back in the closing laps to capture the 2nd place heat finish. Starting the A-Main from 6th Brian would come home 9th in the 40 lap A-Main event.
To conclude the Summer Nationals racing weekend Brian would head to the Fairbury Speedway for their $10,000 to win event. Brian would start the night off great qualifying 6th overall in group 2. Starting from 3rd in heat 2 Brian would battle for the lead in a three wide battle with eventual race winner McKay Wenger and Tim Manville. Brian would cross the finish line in the 2nd position but would get disqualified for being 24 pounds light at the scales. This force Brian to play alphabet soup starting in the C-Main in which he would go on to win and transfer to the B-Main event. Brian would be unable to transfer into the A-Main event.
