Brian and the G.R. Smith Motorsports team are back in action again tonight for Night 3 of the 41st Annual Winternationals at the East Bay Raceway Park. Tonight increases in both pay and laps, paying $7,000 to win tonight’s 40 lap A-Main event. 51 Lucas Oil Dirt Late Models are in attendance tonight.
Qualifying: Brian was the last car to go out in the 25 car Group B. Brian qualified 12th with a 14.849 that unofficially should start him 4th in Heat 6. Fast time in Group B was set by the #25 of Mike Benedum at a 14.524.
Heat 6: (Top 3 Transfer) Brian will start 4th in Heat 6 looking to move up as the top 3 will transfer directly into the A-Main event. Brian jumped into the 3rd position right off the start and then engaged in a battle for the second place with Devin Moran that lasted 6 laps. Brian would briefly hold 2nd clearing a slide job on Moran before Moran would cross back under with 3 to go to steal the 2nd position back. Brian would finish the heat in the 3rd position transferring into the A-Main event.
A-Main: Brian started 18th in the 40 Lap, $7,000 to Win A-Main event. On lap 23 Brian would move into the top 10 briefly before slipping a couple spots back in the closing laps. When the checkered flag would fly Brian would cross the line in the 15th position. The 40 lap A-Main only saw two cautions for racing incidents.
