Brian and G.R. Smith Motorsports are looking to capitalize on last night’s 15th place finish to break into the top 10 tonight on Night 4 of the 41st Annual Winternationals at the East Bay Raceway Park. The task has not gotten easier as the car count is up to 53 Lucas Oil Late Models for another $7,000 to win, 40 lap event.
Qualifying: Brian was the 11th car to go out to take time in the 26 car Group B. Brian timed in at a 14.759 that put him 2nd quick at the time he went out. When all 26 cars would conclude in Qualifying Group B Brian would find himself scored 7th in time setting him up to start 3rd in Heat 4 of the night.
Heat: (Top 3 Transfer) Brian started 3rd in Heat 4 and would jump into 2nd off the start to settle in for a 2nd place finish in the 10 lap heat race to transfer to tonight’s A-Main event. The top three were #40B Kyle Bronson, Brian, and #14 Darrell Lanigan.
A-Main: Brian started 8th in tonight’s $7,000 to win, 40 lap event. Brian was running in the 10th position with 6 laps to go when he would slow on the speedway and retire from the event with a DNF.
